How We Collect the Data
The North American Division Office of Education and La Sierra University are partnering on this study.
Participants in the study are students in grades 5 through 11 in NAD Adventist schools.
Teachers will administer the Presidential Youth Fitness Program’s five-element fitness test as a part of their physical education classes and enter the results on WELNET.”

This study will help assess the current state of our students’ health and provide a basis for maintaining or improving that balance.

Because the benefits of a long healthy life enjoyed by previous generations of the members of the Seventh-day Adventist church, as reflected in the ongoing Adventist Health Study II, may not be experienced by the school age children of the church today.

Children and students in North America are more likely to be obese and less fit today than in previous generations. The health beliefs of the Seventh-day Adventist church that have their foundation in creation and restoration call for a renewed emphasis on fitness and health to restore balance and overall wellness in the lives of our students, staff and teachers.
The PhysicalGenesis Study 2018
PhysicalGenesis continues to be streamlined for its fourth and final year. Teachers will still do fitness testing of their students as a part of their regular physical education curriculum, but there will be no survey for students or their parents. The calendar timeframe to do fitness testing for spring 2018 is from March 1 through April 30.
